Open WebUI
A full chat UI for your team on top of Memtro.
Open WebUI gives your team a full chat interface on top of Memtro, with multi-user accounts, history and file uploads, while Memtro provides the memory, the connectors and the model routing.
Connect Open WebUI to Memtro
- Create a Memtro API key on Dashboard → API keys. One key per Open WebUI user is best, so memory and connections stay per person; a shared key works for a quick start.
- In Open WebUI: Admin Panel → Settings → Connections → OpenAI API. Add a connection:
- URL:
https://platform.memtro.com/v1 - Key:
sk-memtro-…
- URL:
- Save. The model list fills with
auto,memtro,auto/anthropic,anthropic/claude-opus-5,claude-code/opusand the rest.
Recommended defaults
- Set the default model to
auto. Users who want agent mode pickauto:agentor putmemtro.modein a preset. - Leave streaming on. Agent progress arrives as
reasoning_content, which Open WebUI renders as a collapsible "Thinking" block above the answer. - Increase the request timeout for agent runs, which can take a few minutes.
Per-user keys
For personal memory and personal connections, give each user their own Memtro key: in Open WebUI each user can add their own connection under Settings → Connections (if the admin allows it). Facts learned from a user's conversations then follow Memtro's scope rules: organisation knowledge is shared, personal preferences stay with the user.
Things to know
- Memtro's tools run on the server; Open WebUI's own tool/function features are separate and can be combined.
- Model ids with a slash are fine in Open WebUI.
compat:<label>/<model>ids work too.
