Memtro vs ChatGPT Enterprise
One vendor's models and interface for the whole company, versus model-neutral infrastructure behind the tools you already use.
This comparison describes ChatGPT Enterprise as we understand it at the time of writing from OpenAI's public materials. Products change; check the current details before deciding.
ChatGPT Enterprise is OpenAI's workplace offering: the ChatGPT interface for a whole company, with administration, workspace controls, connectors to common business systems and memory, running on OpenAI's own models.
Memtro is model-neutral infrastructure. It is an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so ChatGPT-style clients can point at it, but the models behind it are the ones you hold keys for — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, anything OpenAI-compatible, or a Claude Code subscription — picked per request by difficulty.
Where they differ
| Memtro | ChatGPT Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|
| Models | Yours: several providers at once, routed per request | OpenAI's |
| Model spend | On your provider accounts, at your rates, visible per user and per model | Inside the per-seat price |
| Interface | Any OpenAI-compatible client, any MCP client, your own agents, plus a chat UI | ChatGPT |
| Memory | One organisation-wide graph, with per-fact personal/shared classification | Workspace and per-user memory |
| History | Bitemporal: read it as of any date; corrections supersede rather than overwrite | Current state |
| Provenance | Every fact carries the system, record id and link it came from | Citations where sources are connected |
| Pricing | Per organisation by headcount, from $50/month; software only | Per seat, model usage included |
| Hosting | Operated in the United Kingdom | OpenAI's infrastructure |
Honestly, where ChatGPT Enterprise is stronger
It is one decision, one invoice and one vendor, and the interface is already the one your team uses at home — which is worth a great deal for adoption. If you are happy on OpenAI models and want nothing to configure, that simplicity is a real advantage, and it bundles capabilities no infrastructure layer provides on its own.
When to choose which
Choose ChatGPT Enterprise if you want a finished product for everybody, you are content to standardise on one model family, and you would rather pay a seat price than reason about tokens.
Choose Memtro if you want the model decision to stay yours — including using several providers at once and sending easy turns to a cheap one — if your people work in editors and agents rather than one chat window, or if you need the memory to be auditable: provenance on every fact, and the ability to read what was believed on a given date. The two are not exclusive: ChatGPT can be one of the clients that talks to Memtro.
